Read more for natural Twitter marketing and traffic building tips that can help any business/website online and increase traffic and online awareness.
You may be fairly new to world of social media and are probably dreading the fact that you have to type and send updates into yet another box! Well let me stop you there because Twitter is different and great in so many different ways.
When I first started social media marketing, it took me a while to fully warm to Twitter, but I am glad I took the plunge and created an account because what it has done for online businesses and blogs is phenomenal! This article will be a sort of introduction to Twitter, what it does and what it can do for you.
What is Twitter?
In basic terms, Twitter is a micro blogging platform that is made available to the public. There are currently 300 million active users on Twitter, and Twitter, is amongst the some of the highest ranking websites on the net today.
Twitter allows you to post updates with a 140-character limit, and it also allows you to follow anyone that has a Twitter account. Yes I said anyone! Even Barrack Obama has Twitter and tweets regularly. That is how authoritative Twitter can be, and is a never-ending river of information that is flowing all the time!
1. Getting More Traffic With Twitter
A lot of people create Twitter accounts but never customize it to its full potential. If your Twitter account has a bad design, then it isn't going to look good for you and your brand. If you are reading this now, and care about your brand/business and website, then here are some tips you can use to ensure that you are using Twitter correctly, and to its full potential.
Twitter ID - This should always be either your real name or your brand name and there is no exceptions to this rule. Never use any nicknames or screen names, as you want people to know that someone dedicated is standing firmly behind the brand.
Use Your Real Name - This is fairly simple but is often overlooked. On your profile, use your real name and not something silly or childish. Using your name is pretty similar to the point above in the sense that you want other people to know that you are a human and not a bot that is automatically running a business.
Enter Your Location - Place the town or city you are currently at in the relevant box, and try not to be smart about it by say things like "earth".
Add in Your Site URL - This is where the traffic comes from. You are able to enter a site URL under you bio box and your site URL should either be your personal blog, or your business site.
The Bio - The bio is something that should be thought about very carefully. If you want to be smart with it, you should intrigue the follower, and then make it so they feel compelled to click on your site URL. How do you do this? Well, simply write about your business and also show some personality.
A Photo of You - You should always have a photo on your Twitter profile. Your photo is very important, as it shows to your followers who the person behind the brand is. The photo box is very small, so be sure to use a close up photo.
The Background Image - You should always have a custom-made background image. Everything I have said above is 50% of your Twitter branding, and the background image is the other 50%. Make it so the background image reflects that of the theme of your site and your brand. Use relevant colors, images and logos to keep things consistent.
2. Build a Following
So hopefully you should have a brief idea of what your Twitter profile should look like. What you need to focus on now is building a following. Find the people who are the leaders in your niche by name, and follow them.
Doing this automatically can take up lots of time, so I use a tool called TweetAdder that automates everything for me. All you have to simply do is write in their ID, gather ALL their followers in a database and follow them whenever you wish. You can follow a maximum of 1000 people at a time, and TweetAdder also lets you see who is not following you, so you can easily remove them from your list of followers.
3. Just Keep Tweeting
This is the final step to building a large following and gaining easy traffic. Just simple keep tweeting, and that's about it.
When you begin tweeting interesting things to your followers, they will feel compelled to click onto your name, see your site URL and follow through to your site.
You shouldn't be tweeting about anything. Keep your tweets relevant and make sure they provide value to your followers. People love information that can help them in their everyday lives and business lives, so make sure you tweet things that help solve their problems.
I use Twitter all the time and must say that it provides a lot of easy traffic to my site because I simply use the methods stated above. You too can use Twitter to your advantage and gain what is in my opinion the easiest traffic ever!
