Making the Most of Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a business venture wherein a website owner and an online merchant share revenues. Typically, a website owner places ads on his or her site to help promote a company's products or to direct prospective clients to a company's website. And this is all done in exchange for a cut in the profits.
There are three ways that beginners can make money through affiliate marketing - through systems like pay-per-click, pay per lead or pay per sale.
When using a pay-per-click system, the affiliate earns a certain amount of money every time a prospective client clicks on the link that leads to the merchant's website. In a pay per lead system, a set amount is paid to the affiliate's account when a client registers at the online merchant's website because of the ad on the affiliate's website.
On the other hand, a pay per sale system lets the affiliate earn money each time a sale is closed. Depending on the arrangement with the online merchant, an affiliate can earn either a commission or a percentage of the profits.
Affiliate marketing can be a good way to earn money via the Internet, but beginners might encounter a few rough patches at the start. One of the best affiliate marketing tips for beginners is to carefully choose the program they want to invest in, especially now when there are literally thousands of marketing programs to pick from. It's also good to remember that choosing even the most popular affiliate program is not an assurance of big bucks. As in any business, it will take time and a lot of effort to succeed. Other marketing tips that first timers should bear in mind are -
• Choose a product that you personally know and like. For example, if you are a regular beach comber, then being an affiliate for a product or company that handles beach items or seaside destinations might be ideal. Choosing a product that's connected to your passion can help you sell it on a personal level.
• There's no pressure to own or develop your own website in order to be an affiliate. Admittedly, there are some people who were successful in using their own websites to promote and market their affiliate products, but there are also others who just made use of article directories, online communities and the like to promote the affiliate products.
• Familiarize yourself with keywords. Affiliates often rely on individuals to discover their affiliate products on the Internet, and to improve your chances you have to be familiar with the basic SEO techniques.
Lastly, one of the most important tips that you should remember is that affiliates should simply lead prospective clients to the merchant's site and convince them of the product. First timers might have noticed that when studying about how to market an affiliate product online, it's crucial that they focus on promoting the product, not on selling it. It is the online merchant's job to do the actual selling.

Doing Affiliate Promotional Writing Ask Yourself

Can I write well enough to sell copy?
People who work in an affiliate marketing business know a lot about how to promote their content after doing the in-depth research. But, no matter how many different ways you research in terms of marketing, most of what you're going to do in affiliate promotion all comes down to writing.
Questions to ask yourself about your affiliate promotional writing.
The first question you need to ask yourself here is, if you're really being honest or not. Never think of your customers as foolish or uneducated. Honesty is what is going to sell when you're writing any type of product review or promotional piece. If you're lying or are just hyping up the product unrealistically, your customers are going to know it.
If you're writing a professional review that's unbiased and impersonal, it might be a little too robotic in nature to draw any interest. Your audience wants to read real material from people who have used the product. If all they want are the strict facts about how the product works, they can just read the actual product page from the manufacturer. You have to include some personal details in your content.
You also need to think about whether or not your audience is going to have a chance to read the review. If you think they're going to see it, then you obviously want to write the best piece you can. If you think they might not see it, you may want to make sure that you're submitting it somewhere directly in your niche's line of sight.
For article submissions, you want to keep things in a text only format. On your website or blog, however, you should include some good graphics and even video demonstrations that prove the product actually works. Show the proof instead of simply expecting your audience to take your word for it. Include some testimonials. Spend the extra time to create a video yourself.
You can't just make a bold claim in today's world without any facts to back it up. If you're lying or are giving unsupported numbers, all your audience has to do is open another tab and check your figures. So, make sure that you're being totally honest and always list your sources.
The most entertaining, humorous articles out there will be shared by other people on their social networking sites. They'll want to show their stuff off. So, before you finalize any of your content, see if you can add some unique element to it.
If you don't have an article that's entertaining, you may find that it won't attract readers. It doesn't have to be straight comedy or something that's whimsical in nature, but it does have to be fun to read. Tell a story with your content and make it humorous where necessary.
Take the time to follow these tips, learn them and ultimately implement them, as they're written down for the best odds of success.Content is what's going to drive a lot of your affiliate sales, so always take special care when you're attempting to deliver your text.

Is Residual Income A Reality Online?

The answer is YES.
Residual income is the income that is regularly and continuously paid to you even after you have done your work, or you still do your work, but with little effort. This is the income that most people are dreaming about. There is a great deal of difference between a residual income and an employment income, where you get paid for the time you spend and work that you do.
If you are wishing for a residual income, you can do it in a number of ways. But first, you need to create a website and put some content on it, either from affiliates or your own work. For example, you can write an e-Book which you can sell online. Try your best to drive more traffic to your site. It is important that you have a good number of online visitors going to your website.
People who are looking for ways to get residual income online usually go to the Internet where they find numerous suggestions that include joining matrices and referral programs where you need to create a network of people. You get a commission for every referral that you make. There is also the affiliate program. If you join this program, you will promote and sell products and services for other people. Every sale you make will earn you a commission. If it is a 2-tier program that you joined, your earnings will come not only from your sales, but also from sales of others that you personally bring in to the program. For example, if the program gives you a 50% commission for all the sales you make, you can receive additional 25% commission from the sales of your referrals. So, if you can recruit more people, more amount of money will come to you.
One other method of creating residual income is banner advertising. A banner is a small rectangular advertisement placed on your web pages. People who have products or services to promote will pay you a certain amount to place their banner on your site. The amount of money that you can earn from this kind of advertisement depends largely on how much traffic is received by your site, your niche/industry, and the placement of the banners. Banners have different sizes, so the size of space and location that your site can allow to advertisers also determine how much income you can make. The bigger the banner and the more visible the banner is in your website, the more you will get paid.
Is residual income a reality online? Oh, YES. And you can secure yourself for the next years to come. You've got to be ready for some unexpected turns of events - being laid off from your job, getting too sick to be able to work, or experiencing a natural disaster. Today can be that time when you want to start saving for your up coming retirement, and creating multiple residual income streams can help you to face your future. And your future has got to be bright.
Adam has recently been involved with an advertising company that is producing a residual income online by purchasing banner space and reselling it for a profit. Unlike Google that keeps its slice of the $500 billion dollar advertising market, Banners Broker shares its revenue with its affiliates. For a true residual income online click the link and sign up for a free account and Adam will contact you on how to get started.

Looking To Make Money Online Fast? Affiliate Marketing May Be The Answer

One may feel that starting the process to make money online can be daunting. However, this is certainly not the case. Indeed, there are honest and legitimate ways to make money online fast, and it is surprisingly easy to do so today. If you want to make money online, it will take a bit of focus, and with a little elbow grease, you will ultimately be successful.
The two options I have found to be the simplest, fastest and most lucrative to make money online are affiliate marketing or starting an online website. While starting an online blog gives you the freedom to focus on virtually anything, affiliate marketing has more of a particular focus or niche, and there are websites that will not only get you up and running, but will also even provide you with free step by step instructions on how to do it the right way. This proves to be extraordinarily helpful for folks who really have little time or little idea on where to begin. For newbies, affiliate marketing appears to be the best way to make money online.
What exactly is affiliate marketing? It is remarkably simple. You get paid cash daily when you direct traffic to a particular website. Often times, websites will provide you (the affiliate marketer) with an affiliate link for free and will pay you a predetermined amount of money whenever someone clicks on your link and is directed to their site. This is a really great way to make money online fast, but it has become increasingly popular and the competition is growing fast. With a few proven techniques however, there are sure fire ways to get ahead of the pack, leave your competitors in the dust and attract visitors to your website immediately, all while generating significant income in the process. Affiliate marketing, when done right, can be a very rewarding and lucrative way to work from home and make money online fast.
Fortunately, for folks who don't have tons of experience in the online market, there are options available to you. There are websites who will not only get you up and running with a free affiliate link, but will also provide you with free step by step training on how to successfully market your website, including video tutorials and around the clock support along your way. When you are successful, everyone wins--you as the affiliate marketer, the web surfer that clicks on your link and the website to which you are directing traffic. So these sites genuinely want you to succeed and will give you all the training and help you need to make money online and achieve success. So for folks who are looking to make money online but have little experience or time, affiliate marketing seems to be the best way to make money online fast.
When one decides to work from home, the possibilities are endless and for many people, working at home and making money online has been incredibly lucrative. It may come as a surprise to some that many folks have left their day jobs to focus on working from home exclusively. If you are growing tiresome of your daily routine, have an unappreciative boss or maybe you just want to spend more time with the kids, there is a great system out there to generate income daily.

Money Making Tip 2: What To Sell On eBay

I decided to start selling on eBay and the first thing that came to my mind is that I should look for a huge wholesale of several items and then sell them on eBay. This was going to make me a fortune or so I thought. I did not realize one very critical element was missing. What I was missing is the idea that not every product on eBay can make you lot of cash online. The simple answer is that people have different tastes for products that they buy online and the best thing that I should do is to understand what the customer wants and not what I want to sell. The first thing that I should have done first is to know what people want first and then sell to them what they want. I would also need to find out which product is very profitable. This is because there is plenty of competition nowadays on several different niches and so making a good profit margin is difficult.
This is where the research part is very important because I would then know which niche to go into and the right price for the product. This is no easy feat to achieve because you will really need to make sure that you search very widely before you can start selling any product or else you will not get close to the desired results. There is software that you can employ to make you life easier and one of them is Terapeak. The software that will help you in the research part and what it does is to help you search for items easily. The second tool that you will find even more amazing is the 'want it now' tool that will let you know what customers want exactly. Another tool that can help in answering what to sell on eBay is the eBay pulse. It lets you know the most searched products on eBay. All this will go a long way in making a person successful in selling on eBay.
A part of the research can also be done outside the computer while you're watching tv, talking to your neighbors, listening to the radio and others. Any essential information that can tell you that an item or a service has increased demand can help you formulate a good plan for your eBay selling business. You can simply note all info that you can gather through the day and sum it all up at the end of the day when you're on your workplace.

Tips on Making Money on eBay

More and more people are trying to find ways to make money online. Sometimes this is the result of being laid off while other times people are just looking to bring in more money each month. The good news is that there are a lot of opportunities for making money online. Selling products on eBay.com is a venture many people take on. Although it does take a bit of practice and knowledge in order to get started, it has very good potential. There are actually thousands of sellers on this website who work from home full time and make more money than they did at their regular jobs.
eBay is unique because it is an auction website that reaches people all over the world. Buyers can easily log onto the website and search for virtually anything that they need. As long as buyers have reasonable prices for their products, good shipping rates and great pictures; their item is likely to get bid on. Tips to make money selling on eBay include:
Make an account
This is the first step for any seller to accomplish when they want to post their products up on eBay. It's actually very easy to do this since the website is so user-friendly. Once everything has been verified, the seller should take time to explore the website. Seeing how other people post their items is a great way to get tips for posting individual items up for sale.
It's also important for sellers to set up a PayPal account if they don't already have one. Almost all of the transactions on eBay are done via PayPal, so an account is absolutely necessary. This makes it easy and safe for buyers to purchase items without having to give any of their personal information. Keep in mind there are fees associated with both of these, which will vary for each person and item that they sell.
Find items to sell
Selling the products will come later, for now the actual items need to be found. These could be things that are lying around the house or wholesale items that need to be sold. No matter what the items are, pictures need to be taken. This is extremely important for any seller that wants their item to be looked at and bid on. The pictures should be clear and show the item based on exactly what it looks like.
From here, the price should be determined. Sellers may find it helpful to look at the same or similar items on eBay so they can get an idea of what their product should go for. Prices will vary based on if an item is new, used and a variety of other factors. Sellers should always keep this in mind so they can make sure their items go quickly.
Post items for sale
Listing items for sale is very easy for all sellers to do. The items can be placed up for as long as the seller would like. Most people list their items for one week since it's the same price as a few days. One week will give more people the chance to find the item and bid on it as well. Descriptions should be accurate and full of detail so bidders know what it is they are getting.
Once the items are listed for sale, the bids can start coming in. Generally it will take a while before anyone actually puts in a bid, but this heavily depends on what the item is. Towards the end of the listing time the bids will get fiercer, especially when there are several people competing for the same item.
Ship item after sale
Once someone has purchased the listed item, it should be shipped off. This is generally done once the payment from the buyer has cleared. The buyer should know which shipping option was offered when they bought the item. It's always an added bonus if the seller can deliver quickly. This will also result in good feedback from most buyers as well!
Although it might seem like a lot of work, selling on eBay is worth it for most people. The fees are there, but are generally not enough to make selling a bad deal. When sellers receive good feedback they will increase their odds for purchases in the future! Anyone can make money selling on eBay if they are dedicated.

How To Generate More Money In 7 Days

We all need to know how to generate more money in hurry at one time or another. It could be that your house is screaming out for a makeover, your car needs new tyres, yet another school trip needs to be paid for, or you may even have just found the perfect low cost business to start but you haven't got the cash that you need. So is there really an easy way to generate money within 7 days?
To make money you generally need a product or service to sell but what if you haven't got a product to sell, can you still generate cash?
Yes and it's easier than you think.
There is an easy way to generate more money without having to source a product, without having to sell direct to customers and without having to pay for advertising and the great news is that we all have what we need to make more money already in our homes.
All of us have unwanted items lying around the house. Just taking a look in your attic, garage or even in your downstairs cupboards will reveal many items that can create some extra cash for you.
You could then raise money for these items.
But what if you don't want to set up a stall and have to wait for passersby to buy from you in a car boot sale?
There is an alternative. You could sell your items on the biggest online "car boot sale" on the planet... eBay.
The great thing is that you do not need any experience to sell on eBay and the site provides easy step by step instructions on how to sell on eBay.
The other great advantages of selling on eBay are;
You do not need to have direct contact with the person who buys from you.
The customers are more targeted to what you are selling i.e..they know what they are looking for and therefore will be diverted to your product.
People are looking for bargains and if you have what they are looking for at a reasonable price they will buy from you.
What items can you sell on eBay?
There is no limit to what you can sell on eBay... Ranging from clothes, CDs, DVDs, books, manuals, "how to" business opportunities for those opportunity junkies who have amassed numerous sets of the latest ways to make money, the list goes on and on.
Some people have even sold bizarre items like a Tupperware box filled with hurricane wind or a carrot that attracted a lot of bids purely by the seller asking for a good home for his carrot which he had even named.
eBay has also made individuals seriously rich.
Take for example Alex Tew. In August 2006, 21 year old British student Alex decided to use eBay to launch a one page website selling pixels as advertising space. His aim was to raise money for his university education to avoid having to pay off a huge student loan at the end of his studies. He very cleverly sold the pixels for $1 per pixel as he figured that the US had a larger online population.
In January 2006 his final 1000 pixels were put up for auction and closed on the 11th January with a winning bid of $38,000 resulting in a final $1037,000 in gross income!
There really are endless ways to make money with eBay.
As previously stated, selling on eBay is really easy. If you need to know how to set up an eBay account, the site has easy tutorials for you to use to get started.
To sell an item on eBay you will need to:
1. Sign up as an eBay seller.
2. Take a photo of your items and provide a brief description of each. You could also cross reference other items that you are selling by adding something like "Don't forget to check out my other auctions for other great products on...
3. List the item
4. Detail prices, payment and postage information.
5. State the length of time for bidding. It is better not to have a reserve price in order to ensure that your item will be sold and the longer time you allow for bidding, the more money you will generate. However, to generate money quickly, within 7 days, you will need to restrict the bidding time to 7 days or under.
I have used eBay many times to generate more money and it really is one of the quickest and easiest ways to generate cash and can even provide project money for those of you wanting to start a business.
I have owned several successful businesses for over 20 years and now enjoy helping other individuals to find the best businesses to start. I will only promote businesses that I know have been proven to make money.

Selling on eBay - What You Need to Know

Selling on eBay is a very popular goal of making money for many people who are tight on cash.
Old items, from vintage cameras, classical art paintings, and even children's toys can find new owners for a reasonable price, making eBay one of the greatest ways to get rid of something without having to go through the hassle of a yard sale.
In order to make money on eBay, the first thing that you will need is a credit card or PayPal account. Whenever you put a listing up, you are charged a small fee in order to show it on the website. This amount is taken from either your credit card or your PayPal account to cover putting your item on auction.
Making money on eBay is very simply a matter of earning more than the fee to list the product. There are several ways that you can handle selling goods on eBay.
First, you can operate an eBay store. This uses both the 'Buy it now' functionality with set prices for specific items and the standard auction system, which uses bids to determine who wins the item.
Buy it now is a great way to set a price you want for a price while still offering people a chance to place bids.
Once someone places a bid, buy it now is no longer available. Unlike buy it now, there is a risk that you will sell an item for lower than its base worth.
If you are worried about this, you can set a minimum reserve for an auction. This means that the product will not sell unless the minimum reserve is met. That said, if the item doesn't sell due to the minimum reserve not being met, you still lose the fee that you paid to list the item.
Something to consider when selling goods on eBay is your ratings.
Ratings are the way that people judge whether or not you are a trustworthy person to work with. You can build your ratings by purchasing goods from other vendors on eBay and promptly providing them with payment and your address for shipment of goods.
If you're building your ratings by selling goods, you can earn a high rating by quickly shipping your goods and packing them in such a way where they are not damaged during shipment.
Overcharging for shipping is a good way to get a lower, dissatisfied rating, so be careful when you select your shipping charges when you're selling your goods.

Futuristic Marketing: Take the Test to Assess and Improve Your Internet Marketing Skills

Jonathan Budd is making one of the most exciting announcements in his life on July 16th, the launch of Futuristic Marketing, a comprehensive training program teaching all his marketing methods. Budd describes it as a summation of his life's work. Budd spent 18 months of his life preparing for this moment. Budd time meeting with business leaders, private equity, and venture capitalists in Silicon Valley, before coming back with so much knowledge sharing with the marketing community. The main goal is to show business owners how to generate thousands of leads from Facebook. After all, we all know Facebook is the largest social networking website in the world with great potential to build your business.
The Futuristic Marketing Test
Video one for the Futuristic Marketing debuts with not really a video, but more of a quiz, called the Futuristic Marketing Test. It is a quiz that can be taken in three minutes or less. You will be tested on your mindset skills, traffic skills, and conversion skills. Based off your rating, the quiz will predict what type of money you can make on the internet. This will really be a valuable testing and assessment feedback to all business owners.

After finishing the quiz, you will read your results and learn some new marketing tips on the Futuristic Marketing custom launch blog. Your test results will be highlighted within the blog content under video one.
Increase your Marketing skill set.
Facebook marketing can be effective because of the large amount of users and even more important, the amount of time each user spends on Facebook. Jonathan Budd teaches that time on a site is a reflection of the value users are getting from the site.
You will learn how to set up Facebook pay per click ads that convert. The difference between advertising on Google and on Facebook is ad fatigue. Here is why. Google ads are targeting your search query. Facebook ads are targeting you. This means you see the ads quite often and the novelty wears off quickly. You will learn how to freshen up your advertising.
Influence Your Audience
The second thing you will learn is how to engage with your audience. You need to create a fan page that is your headquarters for interacting with your new fans. You will post content, photos, and even videos into the webpage. Here is a fact. Facebook is least effective when it comes to diect sales. Facebook gives you an opportunity to build an ongoing relationship with your customer and that is Facebook's strength: building relationships. Even Facebook advertising managers tell you that their social platform is perfect for building ongoing relationships and remarket to your customers. The goal is to friend users before you sell to them.
Leverage Your Time
The third and fourth component relate to included software. You will learn how to craft and schedule automated webinar presentations. You can leverage your time by reaching your fan base any time during the day through the use of a webinar system. This gives you time to practice your presentation until it is perfect and record it. You can then reuse your best presentation over and over again in the automated system.
Imagine the ability to log into your Facebook account and click a few buttons inside your Facebook fan page to start a marketing campaign for your latest offering. You will also be able to create an app capture software designed to help collect names of people who showed an interest in your product or service.
The wait is almost over, The Futuristic Marketing Test and video series training from Jonathan Budd begins shortly.
Take the Futuristic Marketing Test and learn how much money your business could make on the internet with your current marketing skills. A team of trainers will cover in detail the best methods of Facebook pay per click advertising, the proper landing capture pages, and the use of automated webinars to build a relationship with your audience to a point that they trust you enough to become a customer. The 3 Keys to Growing Your Blog Following With Twitter

The tips I am about to share with are the exact methods and strategies I used to gain a thousand visitors a day to my blog and increase my followers by as much as 50 followers a day!
Using Twitter can be one of the most powerful social media marketing strategies in your social media campaign and because it is fairly new, the possibilities with Twitter are endless. Read more for natural Twitter marketing and traffic building tips that can help any business/website online and increase traffic and online awareness.
You may be fairly new to world of social media and are probably dreading the fact that you have to type and send updates into yet another box! Well let me stop you there because Twitter is different and great in so many different ways.
When I first started social media marketing, it took me a while to fully warm to Twitter, but I am glad I took the plunge and created an account because what it has done for online businesses and blogs is phenomenal! This article will be a sort of introduction to Twitter, what it does and what it can do for you.
What is Twitter?
In basic terms, Twitter is a micro blogging platform that is made available to the public. There are currently 300 million active users on Twitter, and Twitter, is amongst the some of the highest ranking websites on the net today.
Twitter allows you to post updates with a 140-character limit, and it also allows you to follow anyone that has a Twitter account. Yes I said anyone! Even Barrack Obama has Twitter and tweets regularly. That is how authoritative Twitter can be, and is a never-ending river of information that is flowing all the time!
1. Getting More Traffic With Twitter
A lot of people create Twitter accounts but never customize it to its full potential. If your Twitter account has a bad design, then it isn't going to look good for you and your brand. If you are reading this now, and care about your brand/business and website, then here are some tips you can use to ensure that you are using Twitter correctly, and to its full potential.
Twitter ID - This should always be either your real name or your brand name and there is no exceptions to this rule. Never use any nicknames or screen names, as you want people to know that someone dedicated is standing firmly behind the brand.
Use Your Real Name - This is fairly simple but is often overlooked. On your profile, use your real name and not something silly or childish. Using your name is pretty similar to the point above in the sense that you want other people to know that you are a human and not a bot that is automatically running a business.
Enter Your Location - Place the town or city you are currently at in the relevant box, and try not to be smart about it by say things like "earth".
Add in Your Site URL - This is where the traffic comes from. You are able to enter a site URL under you bio box and your site URL should either be your personal blog, or your business site.
The Bio - The bio is something that should be thought about very carefully. If you want to be smart with it, you should intrigue the follower, and then make it so they feel compelled to click on your site URL. How do you do this? Well, simply write about your business and also show some personality.
A Photo of You - You should always have a photo on your Twitter profile. Your photo is very important, as it shows to your followers who the person behind the brand is. The photo box is very small, so be sure to use a close up photo.
The Background Image - You should always have a custom-made background image. Everything I have said above is 50% of your Twitter branding, and the background image is the other 50%. Make it so the background image reflects that of the theme of your site and your brand. Use relevant colors, images and logos to keep things consistent.
2. Build a Following
So hopefully you should have a brief idea of what your Twitter profile should look like. What you need to focus on now is building a following. Find the people who are the leaders in your niche by name, and follow them.
Doing this automatically can take up lots of time, so I use a tool called TweetAdder that automates everything for me. All you have to simply do is write in their ID, gather ALL their followers in a database and follow them whenever you wish. You can follow a maximum of 1000 people at a time, and TweetAdder also lets you see who is not following you, so you can easily remove them from your list of followers.
3. Just Keep Tweeting
This is the final step to building a large following and gaining easy traffic. Just simple keep tweeting, and that's about it.
When you begin tweeting interesting things to your followers, they will feel compelled to click onto your name, see your site URL and follow through to your site.
You shouldn't be tweeting about anything. Keep your tweets relevant and make sure they provide value to your followers. People love information that can help them in their everyday lives and business lives, so make sure you tweet things that help solve their problems.
I use Twitter all the time and must say that it provides a lot of easy traffic to my site because I simply use the methods stated above. You too can use Twitter to your advantage and gain what is in my opinion the easiest traffic ever!
Be sure to check out my blog and contact me if you have any questions about the methods above. Keep working hard and success will come to you!

Should You Smile Online?

Wherever you look online these days you cannot move for smiling people. There they are in social media profiles, in headshots on websites and in images shared on the likes of Pinterest or Flickr. All around you people are smiling. But is that a good thing? Should you smile online as much as you do? Could a smile cause a problem for your website?
When people smile they increase their positive brain hormones, the endorphins. And when we see someone smile, we find it hard to avoid smiling ourselves. Smiling is infectious. So if you smile on your website, the chances are the visitors to your site will also smile. You could then trigger their mirror neurons to come into action and feel as happy as you are. All positive stuff; why wouldn't you want to smile on your website?
Well, according to new research, you might not want to smile if you need people to think you are older than you are. Psychologists from Germany have discovered that we underestimate the age of people who are smiling. When we look at a picture of someone smiling we tend to say they are younger than turns out to be the case. Overall, it seems we are pretty poor at estimating the age of people, unless their facial expression is neutral - when we tend to get it right.
So, why might you want people to estimate your age from your profile picture? Imagine you are a young software developer - smile and in the instant people land on your website they could think you are too young to have done the things you claim. Or what about the older person who is using LinkedIn to try and get a new job? Have a neutral picture and people could say "oh, she's too old for us". But smile, and they' will underestimate your age, making the chances of the job a little bit higher.
It therefore means that one picture for your all your social media profiles and your web pages is simply not enough. You need to think about the impact you are trying to create and whether or not you want people to get your age right, or think you are younger.
Once more, this research shows that we really need to focus on the fine detail of what we present on our websites if we are to have the desired impact.

Could Instagram Be the Most-Used Photo App During the Olympics?

It is thought that the extremely popular app Instagram gains a new user every single second. The app has only been in existence for a couple of years, but it has definitely been making waves ever since. Recently acquired by Facebook for a staggering $1billion, and used by more than 40 million people (as of April 2012), could Instagram become the most popular photography app of this year's Olympic Games?
It certainly seems as though it might be: already, if you visit Twitter, you can search hashtags such as #torchrelay and #londonolympics and see a significant number of relevant Instagram photos. There is even an official Olympics' Instagram blog, which suggests that the app could well be one of the big ways to capture and share the experience of the upcoming 2012 Games.
More than a billion photos have been uploaded to Instagram so far, and every day, upwards of five million new photos are added according to an infographic on the Digital Buzz blog. That works out at 58 photos being uploaded every single second. And, when we consider just how prevalent smartphones are starting to become and the likelihood that plenty of people will be interested in sharing their experience of the Olympics, it doesn't take a huge leap of the imagination to realise that a lot of those people will be sharing their experiences through Instagram.
The one thing that might limit Instagram use during the sporting spectacle is the fact that ticket holders are being deterred from sharing any photos or videos they might take while watching Olympic events. Under the 'conditions for ticketholders', they are only allowed to use their photos for personal use - so that means no sharing through Instagram or other social media platforms.
However, despite these restrictions, there is nothing to stop people outside the Olympic venues sharing pictures through the app. After all, more people will be celebrating the event at home or in the pub than at the Olympic stadium; there are still plenty of opportunities for sharing. Businesses might also decide to utilise Instagram during the Olympics. To name just one example, a competition for the best Instagram picture of an Olympics party could be used by businesses to engage with their audience.
Overall, even though there are some limitations on sharing photos through Instagram during the Olympic Games, it still remains one of the most popular apps out there; the fact that it is social by nature suggests that it could well be the hottest app of the Olympic period.

3 Traffic Generation Tactics for Affiliate Marketers

Affiliate marketing is a huge market on the Internet and affiliate marketers are always looking for products and market that are easily reachable and that can generate high revenue. These 3 tactics used in online marketing are still widely popular and generates massive results and traffic.
What are these three traffic generation tactics?
1. To give the product Focus.
For each product being promoted, it is recommended to have a unique web page for each of the items. In this way, the customer will be focused on that single product and will only have options to buy or not to buy.
Also, include product reviews and testimonials on the website so that visitors will be able to see what are the other customer experiences are of such a product. Be sure that the customer has given consent to use their names and photos as part of the product marketing.
Articles on the usage, benefits of the product can also be included in the website as additional information for product promotion. Make the pages attractive and compelling. Also include call to action on the information. Each headline should attract the readers to read more, or even try to contact the seller.
2. Offer free reports to your readers.
People are always looking for free and informative items. Position a box at the top right side of your page to capture details of people. Try to create an autoresponder messages that will be mailed to those who input their personal information into the sign up box. According to research, a sale is closed usually on the seventh contact with a prospect.
Only two things can happen on the web page after the opt-in:
i) closed sale
ii) the prospect leaving the page and possibly never returning again
By sending useful information to their emails at certain preprogrammed timelines, the prospective customer can be reminded of the product they thought they wanted later. Point to note is not to make it sound like a sales pitch.
Focus on points like advantages and benefits, what happens to most people without it. Include compelling call to action in the lines of the email. The subject title is also an important component to entice the reader to open the email!
Avoid using the word "free" as much as possible because there are still older spam filters that dumps those kind of contents into the junk mail even before reads them first. Convince those who signed up for your free reports that they will be missing something big if they do not check out your other products and services.
3. Get targeted traffic.
One of the ways to get targeted traffic is to write ezine articles. This will generate targeted traffic due to the fact that the ezine article readers are those who are interested in that particular niche that is being written about.
It is advisable to write at least 2 articles per week, of 300-600 words in length. By continuously writing and maintaining these articles it can generate as many as 100 new visitors to the site each day.
Note that usually 1% of people are likely to purchase the products or services. If as many as 1,000 targeted hits can be generated to a website in a day, this means that the potential of hitting 10 sales is quite possible based on the average statistics.

How to Increase Website Traffic - 5 Simple Steps to Effective Forum Marketing

How to increase website traffic is a top concern for all professional internet marketers. Remember this formula? SALES = TRAFFIC x CONVERSION
Highly-targeted traffic is the lifeblood of any online business and goes hand in hand with conversion to create a sustainable, profitable venture.
FORUMS can be an excellent source of highly-targeted traffic, for new & existing businesses alike. They can also be very useful for learning more about your niche, inspiring content for products and articles, and building relationships with people that could become your future friends and joint-venture partners.
Forums are basically communities of like-minded people asking questions & sharing answers in the same niche or area of interest.
So, how do you succeed at forum marketing and use it to increase website traffic? Here are 5 simple steps...
1) FIND A SUITABLE FORUM AND REGISTER
Search Google for YOUR NICHE + forums and look through the top ones.
Look out for those that have a good number of members (15,000+) and that people are posting new threads daily (5+).
Check the rules for adding signatures with hyperlinks back to site, how many posts you must make before you can create a sig, able to send private messages to other forum members, add photo/logo, etc. These are important for your forum marketing success.
Check out some posts and see if the attitudes of those contributing are positive, helpful & supportive. If there's quite a lot of negativity or flaming, leave immediately and find a better forum.
Once you've found a forum that meets your needs, simply register as a new member. This is the first major step of how to increase website traffic using forum marketing.
2) CONFIGURE YOUR PROFILE
People like connecting with people, so write a short bio about yourself in your profile, include a link to your website and upload a photo.
As you connect with other forum members, some will look at your profile and it will help to build relationship. It's important to add your website URL as some will also click through to your site.
Best to avoid adding email address as some members may try to spam you. Alternatively, set up a new email & use just for the forums.
3. CREATE A "STAND OUT" FORUM SIGNATURE WHICH HYPERLINKS TO YOUR WEBSITE
This is one of the most critical things you can do to increase website traffic from your forum marketing efforts.
Your FORUM SIGNATURE will appear below every post you make on the forum. So, your signature must be eye-catching and a clear call-to-action that entices people to click through to your website.
Here's an example. Please use colour in your own signature, which I'm unable to do in this article!

Even better is if you can create an image relevant to your site & hyperlink that back to your site - this makes a stunning forum signature.
The more attractive and compelling your forum signature, the more people will click through to your website from your posts, and the more you will increase website traffic.
Note: Some forums will only allow you to create a signature with a hyperlink to your site after being a member for a week, making 10 posts & having a good reputation. So get started contributing and then add your sig as soon as you meet the requirements.
4) PARTICIPATE AND BE A REGULAR CONTRIBUTOR
To get started in a new forum, post an intro in the newcomers section. People will gladly welcome you!
Look at forum posts and answer any questions that you can. Ask questions that you have & thank people for their answers. Seek to add valuewherever you can.
Also, PM (private message) people if you like their site or post, to start building a relationship with them.
Maintain a positive tone & attitude with all your posts. Avoid getting into any arguments.
5) MAKE YOUR POSTS LOOK ATTRACTIVE
Use different font coloursitalics, bold, CAPS, underlining, bullets, numbering, smiley, etc to highlight key points and make your content easier to read and digest.
Not many people do this, so it's a good way to be attractive online and stand out.
Follow these five simple steps to effective forum marketing and you'll have another solid answer to how to increase website traffic.

Website Traffic Techniques That Work Very Well

When it comes to website traffic, very few marketers know how to get it. For the rest of the successful online marketers, getting traffic is very simple and easy to get. You need to put yourself on a weekly marketing schedule that will allow you to get the traffic and sales that you are looking for in your business.
If you struggle with getting website traffic, you should know that it's very simple and easy to get. I'm sure you've read your fair share of "traffic generation" ebooks, but if you're still "stuck" about what you need to do next... the best thing that you can do for yourself is to find the top 5 marketing strategies that you can implement weekly.
If you can find more than 5, then do more than 5. Just make it manageable. One of my favorite traffic strategies is article marketing. Article marketing is a great way to get a lot of traffic to your site for free. On almost every article directory, you have the people who have high article views, get a lot of clickthroughs to their site, and are experience mega sales in their business.
Article marketing can be made easy. I suggest that you write 500+ word articles every week and submit them to the top article directories online. You will get search engine traffic to your article, you will get other publishers taking your article and placing it on their website, and you will get traffic from people who actually search the article directories looking for an article that will help them to solve their problem. So there's a huge demand here.
Another way that I like to get traffic is with search engine marketing, or search engine optimization (SEO). The search engines get a ton of traffic everyday, and this is where a lot of people start their search at online. You can optimize your web pages around a low competition keyword, and easily be found whenever someone enters that keyword into the search engines.
I like SEO because you can get tons of hits and traffic for free. There's more to SEO that meets the eye though. The search engines can change their algorithm at anytime -- thereby moving your #1 listing all the way to the third page of the search engine results. It happens all the time. SEO is good strategy; just don't rely on it as your sole source of website traffic.
Another great strategy is forum marketing. In almost every niche online, there exists a forum. You will want to do a Google search to see if one exists in your niche. Some will be active and some will have little-to-no activity. Obviously, you want to choose the forum that has a lot of activity.
Soon you will build a name for yourself in your niche, and people will look upon you as an expert. The more posts you make, the better. Make sure you're delivering helpful information to the forum members there... something that they can use to improve their lives or something that is relevant to them.
Getting traffic doesn't have to be a hard thing to do. I advise you study up on the traffic strategies online, and start implementing them today in your online business
